M7 contributes 2bn towards Martyrs day celebrations.

President Yowori Kaguta Museveni has regretted the fatal accidents that claimed lives of pilgrims.

About five fatal accidents where lives of foot pilgrims were lost were registered almost on all routs leading pilgrims to Namugongo. And the president warned motorists against reckless driving while on the road.

In his speech read for him by the Prime Minster Robinah Nabbanja at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo, Museveni hailed the Catholic Church for working with the government to promote development.

He says Uganda is reaping from the fruits of peace and that is the growth in faith and pilgrimages which the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church pride of.

He says the NRM government is committed to development in terms of providing social services, roads, power, hospitals and schools but ones income or family is key because social services cannot bring income.

Museveni says the 35% of the Uganda household income is still trapped in subsistence livelihood which must be changed through utilization of the government wealth creating projects like Emyooga, Parish Development Model and operation wealth creation. This will change the economic status of Ugandans to become economic contributors than remaining as consumers or dependants.

Museveni contributed UGX 2 Billion towards this year Martyrs day celebrations but political players from Jinja also made contributions towards the successful event of the 3rd June 2023 Uganda Martyrs’ day celebrations.
