Uganda – In a dramatic turn of events that has captivated political circles in eastern Uganda, controversial Mbale District Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Stanley Bayole has finally resumed his new assignment in Kapchorwa District.
Bayole officially reported for duty in Kapchorwa today, Wednesday, with immediate effect, bringing to a close weeks of public defiance and intense political wrangling surrounding his transfer.
The seasoned administrator had reportedly rejected a transfer letter reassigning him from Mbale to Kapchorwa, dismissing the move as a demotion and influenced by Mbale District corrupt politician and government workers.
Bayole had earlier on vowed to remain in Mbale, sparking a standoff with higher authorities and drawing sharp criticism from politicians who accused him of insubordination and raising questions about alleged corruption during his tenure in Mbale.
Bayole is well known for enforcing the presidential orders, ie monitoring government schools, to ensure smooth running.
Recently, several Headteachers faced it rough over alleges of charging extra school fees in government schools.
Local sources in Kapchorwa described the atmosphere as tense yet orderly as the new RDC assumed office.
Supporters of Bayole view his eventual compliance as a demonstration of loyalty to the system after making his grievances known, while critics see it as a long-overdue acceptance of redeployment.
Bayole’s transfer saga had become a hot topic in regional politics, with accusations of corruption and power struggles dominating discussions.
While in Mbale, Bayole has been in the center of monitoring the Mbale District newly ongoing construction works, urging contractors to distance from corruption.
His arrival is expected to reshape administrative dynamics in Kapchorwa as he takes on new responsibilities.
This development brings some stability to what had threatened to become a prolonged administrative crisis, allowing both Mbale and Kapchorwa districts to refocus on governance and service delivery.
