Councilors Demand Action Amid Divisional Leadership Crisis

Councilors of Mbale Northern City Division stormed the office of the division clerk, Mr. Olala, to demand the election of a new division speaker following the appointment of Kadimba Hussein as the assistant resident city commissioner of Mbale City.

The councilors emphasized the urgent need for a speaker as budget preparations loom, highlighting the speaker's role in convening council meetings.

Additionally, they addressed challenges in service delivery, particularly concerning road infrastructure and the cleanliness of the division.

They raised concerns about tax collection discrepancies, alleging that taxes are not being utilized for the division's development but are instead being mismanaged.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the current division clerk, Mr. Olala, councilors called for his replacement, noting his alleged failure to perform. They highlighted the concerning state of affairs when, by 12 pm, the clerk's office remained locked on a working day.

In response to these grievances, councilors urged the Minister of Local Government to intervene, calling for an investigation into the Northern City Division's affairs and decisive action to improve service delivery.
