As politics gains momentum ahead of 2026 general election, More than Ten candidates have shown interest of ousting Embattled Hon. Mary Goretti Kitutu From Manafwa District.
The former Karamoja Affairs Minister is expected to battle it out in the 2025 NRM primaries with the following, before heading to finals in 2026:-
The race also has an FDC candidate and more than 3 who are independent.
It should be noted that Kitutu is facing court cases over the scandal of stollen Karamoja iron sheets alongside fellow ministers; Amos Lugolobi and Agnes Nandutu
Kitutu, along with her brother, Michael Naboya Kitutu, and personal assistant Joshua Abaho, face charges for diverting over 10,000 prepainted iron sheets from the intended Karamoja Community Empowerment Program for personal and third-party benefits.
