Residents, PDM Leaders Endorse Namuwenge for Mbale City Woman MP Seat.

Residents and Parish Development Model (PDM) leaders in Nabulu-Kasanja Ward, Mbale Northern City Division, have unanimously endorsed Ritah Namuwenge as the sole candidate for the Woman Member of Parliament (MP) seat for Mbale City in the upcoming NRM primaries.

The leaders cited her growing popularity, dedication, and unwavering support for government programs throughout the city as key reasons for their decision.

Namuwenge currently serves as the National Coordinator for the Emyooga program and also works as a PDM consultant for Eastern Uganda. She is now aspiring to represent Mbale City in Parliament.

The endorsement was made on Thursday evening during a monitoring and research meeting held at Mabale Primary School, focused on the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the area.

The meeting was attended by all Parish Development Committees (PDCs), PDM SACCO leaders, Village Health Teams (VHTs), religious leaders, all LCI chairpersons, youth NRM flag bearers, Town agent, and residents.

Mr. Steven Nabalegwa, LCII chairperson for Nabulu-Kasanja Ward, led the endorsement. “We have endorsed you as our sole NRM candidate for Woman MP in the coming elections. I’m happy to host you in my parish,” he said.

“We thank you for guiding us in accessing PDM funds, but I urge you to follow up and advocate for the division of our parish to improve service delivery.” Nabalegwa noted.

Robert Busiku Mashate, the PDM chairman, also expressed strong support. “Namuwenge is the right candidate. I have no one else to support.”

Nasulu Wambede a resident added, “She is young, energetic, and the best candidate compared to others in the race.”

Nadunga Hafusa, another resident from Nsereko Cell, echoed this support. “We’re fully behind Ritah Namuwenge. Let her go look for votes elsewhere because here, she already has our backing. We’ve suffered enough and need real representation.”

In her remarks, Namuwenge emphasized servant leadership. “Leadership is not about eating; it’s about serving the people,” she said.

She urged LCI chairpersons to prioritize community interests over personal gain.

“You are the ones managing these government programs. You know your people, but instead of helping them, some of you frustrate them,” Namuwenge said.

“This money is meant for everyone in the community not just your family members, as I’ve heard happening in other wards.” She added.
