Rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia dies in motor accident


Businessman Rajiv Ruparelia has died in a motorcar accident, Police have confirmed.

Rajiv is the son of the Ugandan tycoon Sudhir Ruperalia. 

According to the Police statement, Rajiv was driving a white Nissan GTR when it crashed, overturned and caught fire at the Busabala flyover along the Entebbe Expressway. He died at the scene.

Besides his business ventures, Rajiv was involved in motorsport.

He joined local rally in 2019 and immediately caused a stir with his exceptional pace. 

He registered several victories before he went into a sabbatical in 2022. 

Rajiv was also the Patron for the Central Motorsport Club (CMC) and a member of the motorsport governing body assembly.
