Why Minister Nambozo faces an Uphill Battle in Mutufu Town Council NRM party structure Elections

In the heart of Sironko District, a stark contrast has emerged between two political figures, and it’s reshaping the landscape ahead of the upcoming elections. Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala, the incumbent Woman MP and State Minister for Karamoja, is finding herself overshadowed by the tangible and impactful contributions of Mafabi Asha Nabulo, the NRM flag bearer and a beacon of community development.

Ms Asha Nabulo Mafabi’s contributions speak volumes. Following the devastating fire at Elgon Primary School, a school located in Hon Nambozo’s parish Masabasi, Nabulo responded within an hour, providing immediate relief and essential supplies such as mattresses, blankets, pillows, mosquito nets, school bags, and dozens of books for students. Her swift action starkly contrasted with Nambozo’s delayed response, underscoring Nabulo’s dedication to the community’s welfare.

In addition to emergency relief, Nabulo successfully lobbied for the construction of a new dormitory at Elgon Primary School. The new facility now accommodates up to 200 pupils, a significant upgrade from the previous dormitory’s capacity of 65.

Nabulo’s impact extends beyond education. In Mutufu Town Council, which is Nambozo’s home base, Nabulo has drilled four boreholes, two of which are solar-powered and pump 40 liters of water per minute. One of these solar-powered water pumps is strategically placed at Mutufu Health Center III, ensuring a reliable water supply for healthcare services, addressing a long-standing need for clean and accessible water. On a sad note, one of the boreholes is located in Hon Nambozo’s Parish Masabasi.

Nabulo’s healthcare initiatives are equally commendable. She organized cataract surgeries for the elderly, and reading glasses with several beneficiaries hailing from Mutufu Town Council.

Her focus on vulnerable groups didn’t stop there; she also launched agoat project for widows, distributing livestock through the local church to help them gain economic independence. These initiatives have not only uplifted individuals but have strengthened the social fabric of the community.

Furthermore, Nabulo’s commitment to healthcare is evident in the provision of a water tank to all schools in Mutufu TC and additional essential supplies to local health facility, in addition a donation of 32 tailoring machines to Mutufu Global Vision Secondary school for teenage mothers Empowerment skeem further cementing her role as a transformative leader.

As the election approaches, the residents of Mutufu Town Council and the wider Sironko District are taking note of these substantial efforts. Mafabi Asha Nabulo’s proactive and impactful work stands in stark contrast to Hon. Nambozo’s perceived inaction, making it increasingly clear why Nambozo faces an uphill battle in retaining her seat.
