Breaking: No NRM Primaries In Bukedea For Woman Mp Race As NRM ES Declares Speaker Among Unopposed




The Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Annet Among has today morning been duly nominated unopposed for the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament seat, which she currently holds.

What You Need To Know: 

Today morning, the NRM Electoral Commission kicked off the process  of nomination for the eligible candidates to contest for the forthcoming NRM primaries ahead of 2026 general elections.



Among the candidates was the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, RT. Hon. Anita Among, who doubles as the Woman Member of Parliament of Bukedea district.





Among was declared unopposed by the NRM EC boss, Dr. Tanga Odoi. 





Though it has been claimed that there candidate who had expressed interest at the Ec offices but they did not meet the qualifications. 

According to the NRM Electoral Commission, Hellen Akol Odeke, who had shown interest was disqualified after she failed to meet eligibility requirements, notably residency.


NRM Electoral Commission officials further said investigations revealed that Akol is not a resident of the village she had claimed in her nomination documents.

"Our findings established that Ms. Hellen Akol Odeke only recently acquired a piece of land in the area and does not meet the mandatory residence requirement as per the NRM Electoral guidelines"- Dr. Tanga.
