Namisindwa, Uganda: Elgon-based journalist Emma Bwayo has officially joined the race for the Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson seat after picking nomination forms on Thursday morning under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Bwayo, who has spent over 16 years in journalism, said his career has been grounded in community engagement, transparency, and advocacy for development, principles he now intends to bring into local government leadership.
“I have already fulfilled the party requirements by paying the nomination fees, and I am fully committed to following all the guidelines set by the NRM Electoral Commission,” Bwayo told DailyExpress on Thursday morning.
He emphasized the importance of a peaceful, transparent process and urged party leaders and election officials to guarantee a free and fair electoral environment. “We must avoid personal attacks and internal fights,” he said. “Let this be a violence-free election. That is in the best interest of our district.”
Bwayo now joins other contenders Situma John Maango and Wataka Patrick Simiyu, who picked up their nomination forms earlier this week, as the race for the NRM primaries gains momentum in Namisindwa.
