Calvin ECODU has crossed a red line. In one of the most brazen acts of land theft in Teso’s recent history, ECODU has grabbed 12,000 hectares of prime land in Okore, Katakwi District. To disguise the theft, he has converted the title into his mother’s name — a peasant woman from Tubur Sub County who, until now, had never owned more than a small homestead.
How can a humble, aging peasant woman suddenly become the “owner” of vast estates worth billions of shillings? The answer is simple: fraud, manipulation, and the abuse of political influence. This is not development. This is daylight robbery of an entire community’s birthright.
For generations, the people of Katakwi and the wider Teso have tilled these lands, buried their loved ones here, and passed it on to their children. This land is not just soil — it is heritage, livelihood, and identity. ECODU’s criminal maneuver has struck at the heart of that heritage.
The people of Katakwi are mourning. Families fear eviction from their ancestral homes. Communities that once thrived in peace are now living under the shadow of displacement. And all this, engineered by a man who claims to represent their interests.
Let it be clear: Teso will not be silenced. We will expose every fraudulent title, every dirty deal, and every corrupt network that props up ECODU’s greed. Political office is not a license to loot. Foreign donor funds are not a shield for criminal acts.
The Iteso will resist this injustice with truth, unity, and unshakable resolve. ECODU’s name will not be remembered for leadership, but for betrayal. And come the hour of reckoning, Teso will reject you — loudly, decisively, and permanently.
