SPEAKER AMONG: It brings me great joy to be here this afternoon to witness a beautiful chapter in the life of my brother and longtime friend, Methods Mureebe, as he ties the knot with his beloved wife in holy matrimony.
Love truly knows no boundaries—not age or time. Today, I am especially happy that my elder brother, Methods, looked beyond all of that and chose to marry his dear wife, Florence, and most importantly, to do so in the house of God.
Many of you know Methods as one of the longest-serving staff members in Parliament, and he is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Parliamentary Cooperative Savings and Credit Society. He holds this title not only with pride but also with a genuine heart for service.
Those of us who know him well can attest that Methods is a man of loyalty, diligence, and generosity. He is always ready to lend a hand, whether for significant matters or everyday tasks.
I speak from experience, and I know my honorable colleagues and the staff present here can bear witness to this. I first learned about Methods during the 10th Parliament through fellow Members who spoke very highly of him. However, what truly sets him apart is his kind heart.
Last July, as I was preparing to travel to Rome for an audience with the late Pope Francis, Methods approached me with a sincere request. He shared that he had found his better half and was planning to formalize their relationship. He asked to accompany me—not alone, but with his then-fiancée—so they could seek God’s blessing for their union.
For a cause so sincere, I could not say no. I even had to sacrifice a few parliamentary seats on the Vatican trip to make room for his dream.
And today, as I see them standing together before God and all of us, I am glad that I did. God has answered their prayer.
To you, dear wife, understand that you are marrying not just a capable man but a truly good man—a man who loves deeply, serves selflessly, and gives generously.
To you, Methods, my brother and friend, today we celebrate you. We thank God for bringing you to this moment.
May your home be filled with joy, laughter, peace, and the same kind of loyalty and love you have shown to so many of us.
May God bless your marriage abundantly.
