Hon. Miriam Mukhaye has officially launched her re-election bid for the Mbale District Woman MP seat, this time as the NRM flag bearer. Mukhaye, who joined Parliament as an independent, is widely recognised for a strong performance record in the 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 and 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 sectors.

During her first term, she secured land for the upgrading of several health centres including Busiu, Bumasikye, Makhonge, Muruba, Budwale, Wanale and Bumadanda.

She also lobbied government to construct a maternity ward at Siira HC III and delivered beds, mattresses and essential supplies to numerous health facilities.

Her partnership with Rotary International led to the construction of a new maternity ward at Bunampongo HC and she recently launched a state-of-the-art ambulance to boost emergency medical response.

In education, Hon. Mukhaye pushed for the construction of Makhai Seed Secondary School, supported Bumbobi Seed School with iron sheets and helped restore disaster-hit schools such as Nabumali Boarding, Bukhumwa, Manyenya and Bunanimi Primary Schools.

She also partnered with Innovation Africa to fully renovate Kilayi Primary School with desks, solar power and a community water system.

Beyond infrastructure, she fed all Primary Seven candidates and issued success cards during PLE and awarded top-performing girls with mattresses and basic needs to motivate academic excellence.

Hon. Mukhaye says her achievements form a strong foundation for further progress and she seeks a second term to complete ongoing projects.

Her endorsement as the NRM flag bearer has been welcomed by many who view her as a reliable, hands-on leader.

With a solid track record and visible results across the district, Hon. Mukhaye remains a frontrunner for the Mbale District Woman MP seat ahead of the 2026 elections.
