Christmas Bonanza! Parliament Approves UGX 23.89 billion Bonus for URA Staff After Beating Revenue Target

Parliament has approved an additional UGX 23.89 billion as a performance bonus for staff of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) after the tax body surpassed its revenue collection target for the 2024/2025 financial year.

URA collected UGX 31.63 trillion, exceeding its target of UGX 31.37 trillion and delivering a surplus of UGX 262 billion.

The bonus approval came as MPs passed the UGX 8.104 trillion supplementary budget, which includes government plans to borrow UGX 4.278 trillion to fund unfunded priorities in the 2025/26 national budget. 

This pushes Uganda’s overall budget from UGX 72.376 trillion to UGX 78.631 trillion
