The National Resistance Movement (NRM) tightened its grip in Mbale District as sweeping parliamentary results announced overnight delivered decisive victories in Mbale and beyond, unseating other incumbents and reshaping the region’s political landscape.
In the just concluded Presidential and Parliamentary representatives, all the NRM flag bearers for the four constituencies were declared the winners.
These include:-
Miriam Mukhaye for Mbale District, and she is heading to serve her 2nd term.
Geofrey Wokuri-Bungokho Central who won Hon. Wandwasi Robert, the incumbent
Masaba Mukhaye Mutenyo-Bungokho Central overthrew Hon. Richard Wanda, who had been in parliament for only one term
Shafiga Wanyenya- Bungokho North, who has replaced Hon. Dr. Faith Magolo.
Speaking to our publications, Mr Wambogo Moses, the Mbale District NRM chairman drew the victory on a huge mobilization and teamwork.
"This huge victory is attributed to the endless mobilization and teaching voters the nrm manifesto. I want to congratulate all the winners and urge them to go serve their people, as well as implementation of the NRM Manifesto"-Wambogo
Wambogo further said that the elections were to peaceful, free and fair, despite the organized crimes in Bungokho North, during the campaigns.
