Mbale District Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr Bayole Stanley has warned against youths taking the law into their own hands, especially during this election period.
The warning was issued during a security meeting held in Budwale Sub-County, Wanale, and Jewa, where the RDC, together with security officials, including the Third Division Commander Maj Sserunkuma and RPC Assimwe RISO and DISO, emphasized the need for peaceful elections.
The meeting was prompted by recent incidents of violence, including the killing of an LC1 chairperson in Wanale, for which five people have been arrested and are facing court charges.
The RDC has ordered the police to arrest anyone involved in such acts, warning that those responsible will face lifetime imprisonment.
The RDC also advised the community to elect peaceful leaders and warned that candidates involved in promoting violence will also face legal action.
