It was a day of relief and celebration at the historic Nabumali High School today as the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mbale, Mr. Bayole Stanley, officially commissioned a state-of-the-art water system, marking the end of decades-long water scarcity at the institution. This project was funded by the UK export Finance through Ministry of Water and Environment, this water system arrives as a vital solution for the school, which has struggled to meet the water demands of its large student population.
The Headteacher, Madam Margaret Nabudde, speaking on behalf of the Board of Governors, staff, students, and parents, expressed profound gratitude to the government for prioritizing the school’s needs. She specifically highlighted the instrumental role played by the Nabumali Old Students Association (NOSA).
"We are deeply indebted to the Ministry for this intervention," Madam Nabudde stated. "Our sincere thanks also go to NOSA for their tireless lobbying and for ensuring this dream finally became a reality."
She further commended the contractor, Nexus Green, not only for the high quality of their engineering work but for their professional and friendly engagement with the local community throughout the construction phase.
RDC Mr Bayole Stanley praised the Ministry of Water and Environment for recognizing the plight of the overpopulated school. He lauded the Old Students for their proactive approach to school development.
He thanked NOSA for being a productive force, noting that their involvement is a key driver in "bringing back the lost glory" of one of Uganda’s most iconic educational institutions.He gave a nod of approval to Nexus Green for their consistent track record of delivering reliable infrastructure projects.
The RDC concluded with a firm charge to the school administration, urging them to ensure the system’s longevity.
"I urge the school leadership to commit to proper management, responsible usage, and diligent maintenance," Mr. Bayole remarked. "This investment must be protected so that it serves generations of students to come."
The commissioning ceremony was a high-level event, drawing stakeholders from various sectors, including: Representatives from the Ministry of Water and Environment, Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BOG), The Chairperson of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), The Patron of NOSA, Local political leaders, district officials and the school administration.
