Bugisu Caucus Chairman, Mp Wakooli Pledges To Unite Regional MPs For Common Development Goals

Godfrey Matembo Wakooli, the Butiru County legislator who also serves as Chairperson of the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus, has pledged to unite MPs from the Bugisu region so they can speak with one voice and present a single demand to the government.

He made the remarks today on Saturday at Nakaloke play ground during the thanksgiving ceremony for Umaru Nangoli the Northern city division legislator in Mbale city who doubles as vice Chairperson Bugisu parlimentry cocus, the legislator for Northern City Division in Mbale City.

According to Matembo,Bugisu has lots of demands they have to remind the government but previously the Leaders have not been united.

Nangoli says since he is now in the seat of chairperson Bugisu parlimentry cocus, he is going to make sure that unite all 25 members of parliament and 3 (ex-officials) from Bugisu region to have one voice to government and meet their demands.

During the function, Nangoli thanked the people of Northern City Division for entrusting him with their votes and pledged to work for them.

He said Northern Division has many issues that need to be addressed, but he will ensure that the NRM manifesto is implemented.

The Mufuti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubaje, urged voters not to put too much pressure on their Members of Parliament, so that they can deliver effectively.

The Bishop of Mbale Diocese, John Wilson Nandaah, has urged Members of Parliament from the Bugisu region to avoid divisions and speak with one voice to lobby for the region.

He said the main challenge facing Bugisu is that its leaders are divided. He added that even the President has lamented this and called for it to stop so that the region can benefit from the national resources.
