"We did not invite all Bagisu region MPs, we only invited the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus executive - Mr Bwayo, LC5 Namisindwa responds to mixed reactions from the public

MBALE – A strategic meeting intended to foster unity and coordinated development in Uganda’s Bugisu sub-region has instead sparked controversy, with only five Members of Parliament (MPs) turning up, triggering mixed public reactions and questions about deepening divisions among the region’s leaders.

The closed-door Parliamentary Caucus meeting, held over the weekend, brought together LC5 chairpersons from the Bugisu sub-region districts and a select group of legislators.

The agenda focused on aligning priorities for infrastructure, agriculture, education, and health projects to accelerate development across the districts of Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Namisindwa, Bulambuli, Sironko, and others.

Speaking to this publication, Namisindwa District LC5 Chairperson Bwayo Emma defended the invitation list, clarifying that the gathering was never meant to include every MP from the broader Bugisu region.

“We did not invite all Bagisu region MPs. We only invited the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus executive. This was a working meeting for coordination between the caucus leadership and the district chairpersons,” Bwayo Emma stated firmly.

He added: “The goal remains strengthening unity and enhancing coordinated development efforts. We cannot achieve much if we continue pulling in different directions. This meeting was about aligning our strategies, not a political rally.”
