Mbale Industrial City police have arrested a 29-year-old man for pouring Acid on his wife for alleged infidelity.
SP Taitika Rogers confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Masaba Rajab a 29-year-old man, Peasant, and a resident of Namabasa IV Lower Cell, Namabasa Ward, Industrial Division, Mbale City.
Taitika said the victim Nabwire Aisha 19 years wife to the suspect has one child with him.
He says the matter was reported by Muchuma Julius the defense secretary and a resident of Namabasa Ward, Industrial Division, Mbale City.
"It's alleged that the victim and suspect had stayed for one and half years with a child of one year but they developed a misunderstanding and separated and each was sleeping in separate rooms," Police say.
Police revealed that the man was reportedly suspecting the wife to be in love with other men so he (the suspect) allegedly accessed the room of the victim and poured one litre of suspected battery acid on her Neck, back, and stomach.
The victim was rushed to Mbale Referral Hospital to get treatment and the suspect was paraded to court and charged with attempted Murder by Acid burning.
As police we condemn this act and I would like to appeal to families out there that when you have misunderstandings it's better you inform the leaders than deciding like that.
Nabwire Aisha (victim) told Bugisu intellectual that her husband poured Acid on her. He has been following her, calling her everytime but she has been avoiding him until when she came back home and found him standing in the corridor and started fighting with her.
She said, the suspect was targeting her face but failed and then grabbed her Neck and poured acid on her. .
However, the suspect Rajab denys this accusations. Saying he love his wife and can't do that to her.
"We had some misunderstandings, she went away from some time and I reported to her parents about it but it's not me who burnt my wife," Rajab said.
