SIRONKO: Minister of state for karamoja affairs, Florence Nambozo has launched a village-to-village NRM mobilisation and sensitisation campaign as the party begins nominations for LC1 and other village-level structures.
The campaign was officially flagged off in Bukomba Cell, Mutufu Town Council, where she convened a village baraza to oversee the nomination of candidates. During the event, Nambozo who is alsp the district woman member of parliament was also unanimously nominated as the sole candidate for Chairperson of the Women’s League.
She urged residents to conduct peaceful and responsible campaigns, and to vote for the right leaders. “After elections, leaders must serve all people with dedication and integrity,” she said.
Nambozo further revealed her intention to contest for the position of NRM District Chairperson, stating that her goal is to unite the party and lead it to greater heights.
However, some residents raised concerns about the process. John Wandui, a local resident, noted the low level of awareness, saying many people were unaware of the exercise and most were only mobilised that same morning.
Mafabi Manuel, the Parish Registrar of Tandiga Ward, added that registrars had not received any training, unlike those in other villages and parishes across different districts.
In response, Minister Nambozo promised to follow up on the concerns raised to ensure better coordination and inclusivity in the ongoing exercise.
