In a significant show of support, the NRM caucus of Sironko District Council has officially endorsed Julius Nakiyi as the sole candidate for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag in the Budadiri East parliamentary race ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The endorsement was publicly announced during a well-attended rally held at Kigona Bukiise Primary School on the 19th of April 2025, where District Speaker Mr. Samuel Mafabi, joined by Deputy Speaker Mr. Bigala and several caucus members, delivered the message to a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters.
The rally drew thousands of Bukiise residents, all gathered to welcome Nakiyi and his team. Addressing the supporters, Nakiyi expressed his gratitude for the endorsement and pledged to lead the NRM to victory, saying, “With God as my guide, I will not let you down.”
While former MP Hon. Woboya Vincent and Mr. Kiwugulo John have also shown interest in contesting for the NRM flag, their campaigns have yet to gain momentum.
The endorsement positions Nakiyi as the current front-runner in what could become a highly competitive race for Budadiri East constituency.
