Paulo Nangoli, a councilor representing Buhugu Sub County on the Sironko District Council, has defected from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The defection was announced on Saturday, 19th April, 2025 during an NRM consultation meeting at the Sironko District Headquarters.
Nangoli defended his decision to join NRM, stating that he has served FDC for over ten years but sees no future in the party.
He expressed frustration with FDC’s prolonged struggle to capture power, which has yielded no results despite promises. Nangoli believes NRM offers a brighter future.
Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo, Sironko District NRM Chairperson, welcomed Nangoli, thanking him for recognizing the Party’s potential.
Lumolo encouraged other FDC leaders and members to follow Nangoli’s example and join NRM.
However, Herbert Musika, Sironko District FDC Secretary for Persons with Disabilities, reacted to Nangoli’s defection, suggesting that he was motivated by financial gain.
Musika emphasized that FDC remains committed to its struggle for power and wishes Nangoli well in his new party. The party aims to capture power in the 2026 general election.
