Yesterday, Wanda Richard Member of Parliament representing Bungokho Central, in Mbale District spent his whole day driving and showcasing the Ambulance in Bungokho Central.

What You Need To Know:
According to sources, the expensive Ambulance, fully equipped woth a Morden state of Art is a lobbying from the ministry of health by him & the Mbale District Woman Member of parliament, Hon. Miriam Mukhaye.
Speaking to this publication, Wanda noted that this was a great achievement to his constituency which has never had any Ambulance ever since Uganda got its independence.
Wand promised to revive development in the Bungokho Centra by improving lobbying efforts if elected back to Parliament in 2026.
Wanda who is serving his first term in parliament pointed to weak lobbying skills among the Mps leadership as a major reason for Bungokho's lagging service delivery.
“Bungokho Central could have been at a much higher level in terms of service delivery if I had an active member in Parliament before they bisected it. For a district or constituency to fully benefit from the national cake, it needs a leader with strong lobbying skills who can quickly identify the people’s cries and address their concerns,” Wanda noted.
Wanda further outlined key priorities he intends to tackle in 2026, starting with the tarmacking of the access road which connect to highways.
He noted that improving infrastructure in Bungokho is crucial for economic growth, connecting rural communities to markets and services.
“Infrastructure is the backbone of development. I will ensure that this road is reinstated and tarmacked to ease transportation and support local businesses,” he pledged. In addition to infrastructure, Wanda vowed to address the constituency healthcare challenges by advocating for the upgrade of better Health Center IV to a fully-fledged hospital.
He argued that a better-equipped health facility would significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents.
“Health is wealth. Upgrading one of our Health Center IV to a hospital will be a game-changer for our people, especially for mothers, children, and those with critical illnesses,” he said.
In her submissions towards the lobbying, Hon. Miriam Mukhaye noted that this was part of her manifesto in the 2021 general elections.
"I sit on the health committee of Parliament and my main focus in this term of office has been to strengthen the health service delivery in the district. We had only one ambulance which was sufficient enough to offer timely referral support to the patients especially the women and the terminally I'll who need surgery in the regional referral or in mulago hence losing some due to over waiting" -Said Mukhaye.
Mukhaye further noted tha the Government is focusing on ensuring that each constituency gets an ambulance in the country.
"Bungokho Central is now good to go, So Mbale district is remaining with bungokho North to achieve that. As a member of the health committee I will ensure I deliver on that too in the next term and I thank the leadership of NRM and President M7 at large for economic transformation and improving of health sector"- Mukhaye.
