Bungokho Central MP, Hon. Wanda Richard has donated a brand new ambulances worth Shs 100m to ease referrals, transportation of patients, emergency cases and access to maternal services to expectant mothers and accident cases in Bungokho central and mbale District at large.
This was after 2024 statistics indicated that 247 lost their lives out of which, 100 were from causes that could have been prevented such as accident victims, pregnant mothers, severe malaria and food poisoning.
“These factors drove me to strengthen these emergency services as a mechanism to minimize these preventable deaths,” he says.
Bungokho central and south has only one ambulance at Busiu health center, which was offered by the Ministry of Health.
This means the district now has five ambulances to help in emergency cases, including the four at the Mbale referral hospital.
While showcasing the ambulances to ccommunitie members at the burial ceremony in Nyondo Subcounty, Hon. said the emergency trucks will each be stationed in Bungokho central 24/7.
He said the donation was also in fulfillment of his campaign manifesto after realizing challenges facing the health services sector like timely referrals.
Though Wanda Showed a big concern of selfish politicians, most especially his opponent who give empty promises to voters in order to win their hearts.
It should be noted that Wanda is serving his first term and has spoken for more than 10 times in the August House since 2021. He also represents on several parliamentary committees and has tabled several matters of national importance before the Speaker, he is also the Bugisu parliamentary group head.
