Friction Erupts In Northern Division City Mbale As Hajji Umar Nangoli Calls Wanyoto A Fraud In The 63m Bribe Allegations.

Nangoli was declared a winner in the just concluded NRM primaries but was disqualified by the NRM tribunal.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Election Disputes Tribunal a month ago declared Hussein Hudu the duly elected party  flag bearer for Member of Parliament in Mbale City’s Northern Division, overturning the earlier victory of Umar Nangoli after finding what they called "significant electoral irregularities".

The decision follows Hussein’s petition challenging the July 16th NRM primaries, where Nangoli was initially declared winner with 22,166 votes against Hussein’s 21,575 — a margin of 591 votes.

After reviewing contested results and declaration forms, the Tribunal concluded that Hussein actually won by 336 votes.

Source Of Friction Between Nangoli and Wanyoto: 

Never the case, another opponent, Wanyoto Paul Mugoya has been brought in the limelight, saying he bought Nangoli to Support his candidature in the final race.

It has been alleged that Wanyoto splashed over 63m to convince Nangoli to get out of the race and support him. 

According to Nangoli, he learned about the allegations through social media that Wanyoto bought him, "that Wanyoto is a fraud"- Nangoli.

It must be noted that Nangoli is among the biggest candidates in the Northern City Division race for the the position of Member of parliament 2026.

Hajji Umar Nangoli while addressing the media, he spoke out about the allegations that Wanyoto Paul bribed him to withdraw from the race and support him for the MP seat of Mbale Northern City Division. 

He dismissed the claims as false and intended only to tarnish his reputation.

"When i held a meeting with Wanyoto in Serena Hotel Kampala, Wanyoto attempted to convince me to step down, He promised to give me money and also secure for me a job incase he is elected in parliament in the forthcoming 2026 general elections" - Nangoli. 

Nangoli further challenged Paul Wanyoto to present any evidence showing any payment transactions.
