Kayanja Sodomy Case Takes A Twist As UCC Summons Him & His TV Channel 44 For False & Distorted Broadcasting

Pr. Robert Kayanja’s Sodomy Case Takes New Twist as UCC Summons Channel 44 TV Over Alleged False & Distorted Broadcasting.

In a surprising development in the long-running Pastor Robert Kayanja sodomy allegations case, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has issued a formal notice to Channel 44 TV (the television station associated with Pastor Kayanja’s Miracle Centre Cathedral) and required the pastor himself to appear.

According to an official letter from UCC Executive Director Hon. Nyombi Thembo, the Commission is demanding that Channel 44 TV submit: Recordings of content broadcast on 19th, 20th, and 21st March 2026, in which Pastor Robert Kayanja allegedly featured while conducting a church service.

Written representations addressing the matters raised in the complaint.

The station must comply by close of business on Monday, 27th April 2026. A hearing of the parties has been scheduled for Wednesday, 29th April 2026 at 2:00 PM at UCC House, Bugolobi. Channel 44 TV is required to send substantial representatives, including Pastor Robert Kayanja, who is named as the alleged presenter of the impugned program.

The UCC warned that failure to submit the recordings, make representations, or attend the hearing shall not stop the Commission from proceeding with its investigation and taking appropriate regulatory action.

The complainants and their lawyers (from Ojambo & Ojambo Advocates) have also been copied and invited to attend the hearing for clarification.

This move comes amid ongoing court proceedings at Mwanga II Magistrate’s Court in Mengo, where Pastor Kayanja is the complainant against nine youths accused of fabricating sodomy claims against him.

The case has seen multiple twists, including testimonies, forensic examinations, and counter-claims of distorted media coverage.

The development is being viewed by some as a counter-move against media outlets perceived to have misrepresented facts in the sensitive case, while others see it as part of broader efforts to regulate broadcasting standards.

The matter continues to attract significant public attention in Uganda’s religious and media circles.
