Kampala, Uganda – April 23, 2026 — With Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd birthday just days  away, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat has made a bold statement of solidarity, injecting Shs30 million into the high-profile MK 52nd Birthday Run to galvanize Ugandans behind a powerful national cause.

The headline-grabbing financial boost was announced as NRM National Treasurer, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, rallied citizens to transform the upcoming civic event into a true platform for patriotism, youth empowerment, and humanitarian impact.

The MK 52nd Birthday Run is set for Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Kololo Independence Grounds, starting at 6am. Organized by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), the run has evolved into a major annual spectacle that blends celebration with community service, volunteerism, and national mobilization.During a high-level visit to the PLU Secretariat, Hon. Nekesa Oundo led an NRM delegation and delivered a passionate call to action.

“This is more than a birthday run — it is a national movement. Ugandans from all walks of life should come out in large numbers to demonstrate unity, discipline, and commitment to our country’s transformation.”- Nekesa.

NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong earlier injected personal support of Shs10 million and described Gen. Muhoozi as “a shining role model for Uganda’s youth,” urging massive participation to honor the Chief of Defence Forces’ dedication to national service.

Party officials say the Shs30 million contribution will go towards logistics, prizes, hydration, medical support, and community projects that will benefit from funds raised during the run.

Gen. Muhoozi, who celebrates his 52nd birthday on April 24, has seen his annual birthday run grow into one of Uganda’s most anticipated patriotic events, drawing thousands of citizens eager to celebrate leadership, fitness, and national pride.

Organizers are anticipating a record turnout, with the event expected to send a strong message of cohesion and development-focused patriotism across the country.
