Uganda Army Chief, Gen. Muhoozi Mocks Detained Opposition Lawyer Erias Lukwago After Raid

Lukwago, former Kampala Lord Mayor and lawyer for jailed opposition leader Kizza Besigye, was taken early Monday from his Wakaliga residence by Special Forces Command, a unit under Muhoozi's command.

The arrest came as his team tried to serve Muhoozi with court summons over threats against Besigye.

Muhoozi, son of President Yoweri Museveni, shared images of a blindfolded Lukwago captioned 'Ongea Kiswahili' and boasted of inflicting pain, drawing condemnation from opposition figures like Bobi Wine, the Uganda Law Society, and parties FDC and NUP, who demand his release and decry state lawlessness.

Fears for Lukwago's safety grew, as he left without medication and his wife compared the scene to Idi Amin's era.
