In the past one year, Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi has been all over the 6 districts and cities in bugisu subregion mobilizing Bamasaba to rally behind him in 2026 in his bid for presidency.
He has been hiding under the farmers cooperative of bugisu cooperative union (BCU) to meet farmers yet meeting political structures.
He first met the LC 1's and LC 2's of the whole sub met the LC 3's and clan leaders. It is also on record that later, he called all the sironko district leadership of both the technical and political wing for an indwingson in his expensive mountain inn Hotel.
During this 3 day meeting which he had fully facilitated the participants welfare he criticized the nrm party for only considering these leaders during campaigns and also accused the nrm party for NRM using divide and rule politics, he assured them that he has an agenda if supported they will all enjoy.
He is now focused on meeting the remaining district leadership as he sells his agenda.
He also met all the parliamentarians except the few and also told them to always front him and they develop there region. He accused museveni for ignoring Bugisu and even dropping good ministers from the region and appointing 2 ministers for karamoja which is useless to bugisu and other two elders who have nothing to lose.
The MP's last week had mini fundraising empowered by him and have been very successful because he has put there over 1bn.
Yesterday while in Bulambuli he contributed 50m and also pledged to build a community church alone. The reluctant nrm who only uses and dumps will face it hard to retain this sub region unless they act now.
The concern of the NRM cadres in the region is why the NRM party is silent yet they are being infiltrated by opposition.
They fear that by 2025 the whole region will be opposition and it will be very hard for NRM to retain it from him. Bugisu now lacks a uniting NRM pillar.
He has reached an extent of owning the cultural institution by ascending his own candidate for Bukuka and as we speak now he is the one in office.
Unless NRM realizes this, Nathan Nandala Mafabi will be the boss again in bugisu just like how Bobi wine took over Buganda sub region.
The bugisu coffee farmers also cry out that the cooperative now belongs to only one person and he can do whatever he wants, he has assumed a lot of powers, accumulated a lot of wealth and currently is untouchable.
BCU which used to benefit the region now benefits Nandala and few FDC diehards.
