ON THE INCREMENT OF PARLIAMENT'S BUDGET-HERE IS HOW LOP SSENYONYI GAVE JOBS TO MORE FOUR PEOPLE.

Recently, the leader of opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi claimed that parliament was spending extravagantly.

This has caused public reactions both in the media and social media.

Using our insiders, we were able to get the list of the Four staff members, who were Snicked in the office of the leader of opposition, on the expense of Parliament budget.

Below is the list. 

Responding to the above, Here is Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi:- 

Ssenyonyi: My attention has been drawn to this story regarding the increment of Parliament's budget. The story suggests that the Department of the Leader of Opposition would benefit from the increment, which is not true.

As soon as I became LOP, 8 staff at the Department of the Leader of the Opposition got letters from the clerk's office informing them that their contracts which were expiring at the end of January and others in March were not going to be renewed.

I implored the Parliament leadership to have their contracts renewed, but the feedback I got was that it can't happen because there is no money for the contracts to be renewed (meanwhile I learnt that new staff were being hired for other offices, but existing staff in the Department of LOP couldn't get their contracts renewed).

So this increase in Parliament's budget is certainly not intended to benefit the Office of the LOP as is reported, because if staff contracts can't be renewed apparently because there is no money, how then can more money be sent to the Department?? Clearly the increase is intended to go elsewhere!

In our Alternative Budget, we suggested that the Parliamentary Commission budget be slashed from 915bn to 522bn, just like we suggested cuts in other Gov't departments. Our views remained in the minority and didn't carry the day.
