Hon. Miriam Mukhaye, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament for Mbale District, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome as she campaigned in Busiu Town Council earlier today.

In her heartfelt message to the residents, Hon. Mukhaye expressed deep gratitude to Busiu for two key blessings:

1. Giving her a caring husband, Dr. Wangisi Jonathan.

2. Voting for her overwhelmingly in the previous election, which enabled her to serve in Parliament.

She appealed to voters to entrust her with another term, this time as the NRM Flag Bearer, having previously contested as an independent. She emphasized that her experience in Parliament and the connections she has built now position her better to deliver even more for the people of Mbale.

Among her top priorities, she highlighted:

Lobbying for the expansion of Busiu Health Centre and upgrading it to District Hospital status.

Reminded the crowd of the successful fundraising she spearheaded to purchase land for the hospital project.

Cited a significant reduction in maternal death rates in the area, as more mothers now give birth at health centres and receive delivery kits (basins).

Hon. Mukhaye urged the residents to turn out in large numbers on July 17th and vote for her as the NRM Flag Bearer.

Her address was met with jubilation, chants, whistling and ululation from her supporters. Several residents voiced their unwavering support:

One resident said, “We can’t mess our votes on anyone else but all our votes are for Hon. Miriam.”

“Those supporting her opponents are not interested in service delivery, only their selfish desires, " another voter said.

An elder said, “Come rain, come sunshine" he added, "Miriam will win.”
