Victoria University Hosts Discussion on Venezuela-Africa Cooperation at its 5th honorary public lecture





Victoria University has held its 5th honorary public lecture at the university auditorium, themed "Venezuela and Africa, shared values, culture and cooperation for the future". The event featured H.E Fatima Fernandez Juarez, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Uganda, as the keynote speaker.

The lecture provided a platform for exploring the rich cultural heritage and values shared between Venezuela and Africa, and discussing potential areas of cooperation for a mutually beneficial future.

Delivering her speech on behalf of Victoria university vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the university secretary Mrs. M. G. Katusabe Ssemwezi, noted that Victoria university is one of the most vibrant international universities both private and public sector.

"We host about 10,000 students brought from more than 50 Nationalities across Africa, Asia, Europe and beyond." the university secretary highlighted

She added and said "This vibrant diversity enriches our academic and social environment among our students to experience global citizenship from right here at our campus."

She acknowledged that the university takes pride in being a technologically driven institution urging that, "Victoria has been at the forefront of integrating emerging technologies in teaching, learning, assessment and overall universal cooperations from digital learning platforms to technology enabled student assessments."

She added, "We are committed to preparing our graduates for the realities of a rapidly changing technology driven world."

Meanwhile the chief guest speaker, H.E  Fatima Fernandez Juarez, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Uganda noted some of the highlighted some of the international interventions their country has achieved a number of which included

"We have strengthened our diplomacy bilaterally and we have joint security projects, we have signed several agreements with different countries on air transportation." Said H.E  Fatima Fernandez

According to Fatima everything can be achieved together if African countries could unite with the South American countries.

"We have signed 3 agreements since 1970 forexample since 2023 we have more Visas between our countries." She said
