Education & Unity Take Center Stage at Send-off of Mzee Makai Stephen Nangosya



The burial of Mzee Makai Stephen Nangosya in Musese Village, Bunambutye Sub-county, became a platform for leaders to advocate for educational transformation and post-election reconciliation. The ceremony honored a man described as a pillar of the community who passed away at the age of 73.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mbale Mr Bayole Stanley, led a high-profile delegation that included the Woman MP mbale district, Deputy RDC Mbale District, LCV Chairperson of Bududa District, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), various religious leaders and politicians 

The RDC centered his address on the life of Mzee Nangosya, citing him as a prime example of how education secures a family's future, Mzee Nangosya died as an educated man who had served the government diligently for many years.

The RDC noted that because Mzee educated all his children, they are now all employed in government service, It was highlighted that his children were able to provide him with excellent care, including medical attention, during his final years a direct result of their professional success.

The RDC urged mourners to "pick a leaf" from this legacy, stating that when you educate your children, your legacy lives on and people celebrate your life even after you are gone.

The RDC took a stern tone regarding the education standards in certain areas, specifically condemning the high rates of children in Budwale who are not attending school. He challenged newly elected leaders to move beyond their victory and "spread the gospel" of education.       

 The RDC called for an end to political friction to ensure the district moves forward.

"Elections are over. We must come together and support the elected candidates to ensure smooth operations and effective service delivery for our people."

The presence of diverse leaders from across the region, including those from neighboring Bududa, underscored the respect Mzee Nangosya commanded and the shared commitment to the development of the Elgon region.
