Bubulo Secondary School has received a generous donation of four doors and eight window shutters from Hon. Chris Matembu, the Chairman of the PTA, an Old Student and the Member of Parliament–elect for Bubulo West Constituency.
The donation was personally delivered by Hon. Matembu on Sunday, 15th March 2026. He also provided support for labour and all the necessary materials required to ensure the doors and windows were properly installed. Hon. Matembu supervised the installation works to ensure quality workmanship by the technicians.
While supervising the works, Hon. Matembu said:
"I have been through this school as a student and currently serving as the Chairperson of the PTA. This school has groomed me and many others. It is therefore upon us to give back to the school with whatever we can afford."
He added that during his visit to the school, he realized the urgent need to install shutters on the Senior Five block since students were frequently affected by rain whenever it rained.
"I had to do this directly to avoid delays," he explained. "We also preferred to do the work over the weekend, especially on Sunday, so that students’ lessons would not be interrupted."
Hon. Matembu further noted that Old Students and leaders are taking deliberate steps to rejuvenate the school through sponsoring students and providing necessary support to improve infrastructure.
He also highlighted the staffing challenge at the school, noting that out of the 45 teachers currently serving at Bubulo Secondary School, only 21 are on the government payroll while the rest are paid by the school.
Hon. Matembu appealed to Old Students, in their various capacities, to continue supporting the school so that it can rise to higher levels of academic performance and infrastructure development.
He also encouraged parents to enroll more learners at Bubulo Secondary School instead of taking their children to distant schools, noting that the school offers quality education.
The President of the Bubulo Secondary School Old Students’ Association (BUSOSA), Dr. Bernard Musekese Wabukala, welcomed the donation and expressed appreciation to Hon. Matembu for his generous support.
Dr. Wabukala also appreciated the Government of Uganda for creating an enabling environment that allows citizens to actively participate in community development and partner with government initiatives.
He, however, appealed to the government to further support infrastructural development at Bubulo Secondary School and increase staffing levels to enhance the quality of education.
