Farmers In Jubilation As Butiru MP Wakooli Godfrey Donates Coffee Seedlings To Boost Agriculture

The Member of Parliament for Butiru Constituency in Manafwa District, Hon. Godfrey Wakooli Matembu, has donated more than 10,000 coffee seedlings to farmers in a bid to boost coffee production and improve household incomes in the area.

The seedlings were distributed in Bunyinza Town Council, marking the beginning of an exercise that will be rolled out across the entire constituency.

Speaking through his Personal Assistant, Wodada Emmanuel, Wakooli urged farmers to take proper care of the seedlings to ensure maximum benefits.

“We call upon all beneficiaries to nurture these seedlings carefully.

This initiative is intended to uplift household incomes and improve livelihoods,” Emmanuel said.

He emphasized that increased coffee production would enable families to meet essential needs such as school fees, healthcare, and general welfare.

“With better coffee yields, families will be able to educate their children, access quality healthcare, and improve their standards of living,” he added.

Wakooli also appealed to residents who have not yet received the seedlings to remain patient, noting that the distribution will gradually cover all parts of the constituency.

Meanwhile, the Mayor-elect of Bunyinza Town Council, Imujaro Samuel, credited the initiative to the visible benefits of coffee farming in the area.

“I proposed this idea to Hon after seeing how coffee has transformed livelihoods, especially in supporting education and meeting household needs, and He has responded to us immediately” Imujaro said.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Khabonzye David, Khwaka Rosa, and Wamono Bosco, expressed gratitude to the MP for the support.

“This will go a long way in improving our incomes,” said one of the farmers.

They, however, appealed for additional agricultural inputs such as banana seedlings and cassava stems to further strengthen efforts to fight poverty at the household level.
