‎ ‎Poor Namisindwa Mp Elect Nazala Cries To M7 For Protection Amid Election Dispute

The Member of Parliament-elect for Namisindwa Constituency, Metrine Musufwa Nazala, has appealed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for protection, citing threats to her life following a contested election victory.

‎Speaking during the NRM retreat in Kyankwanzi, Nazala broke down emotionally as she narrated the challenges she has faced since the election period.
“I am an orphan. They are threatening me—they want to kill me. Daddy, help me,” she pleaded before the President.
‎Nazala explained that her political journey has been marked by continuous legal battles.
‎She revealed that during the election process, she was taken to court but successfully won the case. However, shortly after being declared the winner in the general election on the NRM ticket, she has  again being dragged to the Mbale High Court.
‎The latest petition was filed by Apollo Masika, who alleges that at the time of nomination and election, Nazala was not a Ugandan citizen. He argues that her election contravenes Article 80(1)(a) of the 1995 Constitution and provisions of the Parliamentary Elections Act.

‎While speaking to the President in Kyankwanzi, Nazala questioned why her citizenship was never challenged earlier, despite her long record of public service.
‎“I have served as a councillor and raised my children here. Why didn’t they take me to court before?” she asked.
‎In response, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni acknowledged her concerns.
‎“I have heard your issues,” the President said as he wrote down notes during the session.
‎The case remains before the Mbale High Court, where a ruling is expected to determine the legitimacy of Nazala’s election.
