Mbale, Uganda –Hon. Miriam Mukhaye, the re-elected Woman Member of Parliament for Mbale District, is scheduled to be sworn in for her second term on Thursday, May 14.
Speaking to this publication, Hon. Mukhaye expressed gratitude to the voters of Mbale District for renewing their trust in her leadership.
She described the re-election as a strong mandate to continue serving the people who overwhelmingly supported her during the recent general elections.
In a statement, Mukhaye thanked the electorate for their confidence, saying she remains committed to championing women’s empowerment, improved service delivery, and addressing key challenges facing the district, including education, health, and infrastructure development.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to the people of Mbale District for trusting me with this responsibility for a second term,” Mukhaye said.
“This victory belongs to every voter who believed in our vision. I pledge to work tirelessly to justify this trust and deliver tangible results for our district.”
Her swearing-in forms part of the formal inauguration of the new cohort of Members of Parliament following the 2026 general elections.
Political observers note that Mukhaye’s return to Parliament strengthens continuity in representation for Mbale’s women and the broader district.
Mukhaye first entered Parliament after winning the Woman MP seat in the previous electoral cycle and has been credited by supporters for advocating for youth and women’s issues during her first term.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by district leaders, supporters, and family members as she officially begins her new five-year term.
