A fatal crash involving a Taxi Hiace Drone Reg. no. UBN 817H and a stationary trailer Reg. no UA 647BA/ UA 430AA HOWO has left 10 people dead with three in critical condition.
The accident occurred today Wednesday, 10th December, 2025 at around 07:00 am in Busowa town Council, in Bugiri district, along Iganga- Bugiri highway.
Preliminary findings indicate that a speeding Toyota Hiace taxi traveling from Malaba to Kampala was overtaking unidentified vehicle and in the process, the driver attempted to dodge another vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction before ramming into a trailer, which was parked about 7 meters from the road killing 10 passengers instantly, and leaving three severely injured.
The scene was visited by the traffic officers led by the Regional Traffic Officer Busoga East.
ASP Michael Kasadha, the police spokesperson for Busoga East said the deceased were conveyed to Bugiri Main Hospital mortuary and the injured were later referred to Jinja regional referral hospital.
The wreckage of Toyota Hiace has been towed and parked at CPS Bugiri pending inspection as investigations are ongoing to establish more facts.
Police has appealed to the motorists to adhere to safe driving practices, to avoid the deadly crashes.
By the time of filing this story names of the victims were yet to be identified.
