The family claims the UPDF failed to respect the deceased’s burial wishes, released the body to an estranged relative instead of the immediate family, and did not accord him full military honors.
It is further reported that on 10th February this year, the President met the widow together with the immediate family at State House Entebbe, in the presence of Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence, Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso, and directed that the deceased be accorded a decent and dignified burial.
However, surprisingly, the situation has since escalated, with reports indicating that the body is now missing from the UPDF mortuary in Bombo, deepening the family’s distress and raising public concern.
Lawyers representing the family have demanded an explanation, restoration of the deceased’s honors, and compensation, giving authorities 14 days to respond or face legal action.
The incident has sparked wider questions about accountability and the handling of fallen military personnel in Uganda.
