Joy for Small Entrepreneurs as MP Masaba Pledges Shs315 Million for Business Vehicles

The Mbale Industrial City Division MP, Karim Masaba, has pledged to channel the Shs315 million meant for purchasing a parliamentary vehicle into supporting women and youth groups through the Karim Development Model programme.

Masaba made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held at his home in Maluku Adra on Sunday evening, where he thanked voters for entrusting him with a second term in Parliament.

Addressing supporters, Masaba said that during his first term, Parliament provided MPs with money to purchase vehicles and that his current vehicle is still in good condition.

He explained that instead of buying another car, he would use the Shs315 million to support small businesses across the five former sub-counties in the constituency.

“I instructed my coordinators to identify all chapatti makers and women selling chips in the constituency. They should also register two women groups from every village so that we can support them with small capital to grow their businesses,” Masaba said.

He added that the funds would be injected into different groups, allowing women to borrow and use the money for business development.

He noted that the programme would continue to receive additional funding annually, and after five years, the best-performing groups would receive special rewards.

Masaba said he has now gained more experience during his first term in Parliament and pledged to do more for the constituency, especially in addressing challenges related to infrastructure, health, and education among others.

The NRM Chairperson for Mbale District, Moses Wambogo said hon Karim Masaba is my good friend, described him as a thoughtful leader who carefully analyses issues before speaking in Parliament.

He thanked residents for re-electing him and urged them to continue supporting his efforts to improve service delivery.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Biara Wepukhulu, the MP for Bulambuli County, noted that Masaba had now become a senior leader in Parliament and called on the Parliamentary Bugisu Caucus to remain united and speak with one voice.

Namisindwa District Woman MP Kyalayi Peace also thanked the people of Mbale City for re-electing Masaba and pledged to work closely with him to promote development in Bugisu region.
