The Member of Parliament for Butiru Constituency in Manafwa District, Hon. Godfrey Wakooli Matembu, has expanded the distribution of coffee seedlings to additional sub-counties, in a continued effort to promote coffee farming and improve household incomes across the constituency.
The initiative, aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity, is being implemented through the MP’s office.
While handing over to residents from Butiru Town Council today, Wodada Emmanuel Political Assistant to Hon Wakooli, urged farmers to take proper care of the seedlings to ensure maximum yield and long-term benefits.
“This initiative is intended to uplift livelihoods by enabling farmers to engage in sustainable coffee production,” Wodada said, emphasizing the importance of proper management practices.
He explained that the extension of the program was prompted by growing demand from residents eager to venture into coffee farming.
The distribution exercise, which was officially launched in Bunyinza Town Council, is set to be rolled out progressively to cover the entire constituency.
Wodada further called on residents who have not yet received the seedlings to remain patient, assuring them that plans are underway to ensure equitable access for all interested farmers.
Beneficiaries of the program, including Walubengo Bosco, Ronald Walukhu, and Willson Somali, expressed their appreciation to the MP for the support, noting that the seedlings would significantly contribute to improving their livelihoods.
They also appealed for additional Technical people to support them and improved fertilizer to improve on the coffee production.
The coffee seedling distribution initiative reflects ongoing efforts by local leaders to promote agriculture as a key driver of economic growth in Manafwa District.
